Attention Please!

Hey all,

'Attention' the word has many meanings. Its something that anyone craves. Its no longer enough that people know you, they also have to pay attention to us for us to be satisfied. The way we show people that we notice them have evolved over the years. In old times, when you see somebody you know walking past you, you take your hat off and show them that you are acknowledging their presence. Then as time went by, the hats went out of commission and we started waving at people. Just that movement of our hands were enough to show our notice. Then further ahead in time, we people started becoming lazy, and abandoned the waving hands gesture and we just held our hands up to show that we know the person passing by . What was once a courtesy is now being practiced as mere obligation.

Then came the era of the present generation, where even so much as lifting our hand was too much of a task.we started doing the sympathetic single nod of our head to show that we see that one person we know pass by.

What was once a sign of respect and acknowledgement has now become a sign of obligation and indifference.

Lets bring back those times of true respect people, lets pay attention to the people we know.lets take some time of our idle lives and talk to those people we know, show them that we care for them.

Lets pay attention.

Private Number Calling - Part 3

Hey all,

This is where it all comes to..............

I could not understand the situation myself, so when my roommate asked me what happened all I could give him was a blank faced “I don’t know”
My roommate panicked and asked me “We should call the police and report this, shouldn’t we? “
That’s when I realized the dilemma of the position that I was stuck in. I couldn’t possibly call the police because if I do I will have to explain to them about the money I found and the mobile phone and I couldn’t explain it even if I wanted to.  So I decided it’s better to take care of this myself.
“Let’s not panic, we can take care of this ourselves, let’s see if anything has been stolen” I assured him and also calming myself
Nothing was missing so the first thing we had to do was to sort everything out and bring the house back to some normality.
“Nothing has gone missing, so I guess whoever did this must have made a mistake “exclaimed my roommate. But I knew that this was no mistake. Whoever did this is after me and they are looking for the money.
So I go to bed still pondering about the crazy day I just had, even wondering whether I should move to a different locality just to be safe. But I knew I should probably get some sleep and let my brain do the thinking with no disturbances .
Next morning I decided to start early for the office to make up for being late the previous day. On my way to work, I noticed that whichever turn I took, a black SUV seemed to take the exact same turns. So I went around the block a couple of times just to check and then I was sure that they were following me.
A full speed chase ensued and all my life I had never driven my bike like I did that day. I sped past every red light to put some distance between me and the goons who were chasing me. I skid past many alleyways that normally were too dangerous for me to even consider taking and at last I ended up at the beach. Finally I had escaped from them.
I checked the phone when I felt a sudden vibration. There were 3 text messages unread and the first one read as follows
“Whoever you are, I am gonna find you and hurt you”
The second one read,
“You have just stolen from the wrong people and you are gonna pay with your life”
Gripped by the sense of terror and panic that engulfed me I decided that this phone could only ruin my life and only way to escape it is to get rid of it . So I threw the phone on to the beach sand as far as I could and walked away without turning back. The phone touched the ground and rang. A smiley face now appeared on the screen with the words “Private Number Calling”.
When someone else like me, the next victim picks it up from the ground and answers “hello……………”

The end……or is it?? ??

Private Number Calling - Part 2

Hey all,

So where were we?

.......... I got to my workplace an hour late that morning. But after the day I had been having, there was too much on my mind to worry about work. The rest of the day went by, with me being absent minded, barely doing anything productive. I was so flabbergasted by my stroke of good luck that morning, all of a sudden I was 5, 00,000 rupees richer and I have no clue what to do with it.
At lunch I got another call in the mystery mobile phone, “Private Number Calling” it read on the phone for the second time that day. I picked it up almost eagerly hoping to find some answers but this time it’s a girl at the other end.
She said with her sweet gentle voice, “Hi. You may not know me but a friend of mine has told a lot about you and she thinks we would really hit it off. This might seem crazy but we have never met and I haven’t even seen you. So it took me a lot of guts to pick up the phone and call you, so don’t say no, can we meet for a cup of coffee? “
I was almost delighted that something good is happening to my life. New money, New Girl, New Life. I responded with a simple answer rather short for the long request. “Yes, Where? “
She replied almost immediately “At the coffee place near Cupid's Corner, wear red so that I can recognize you”
“Alright, see you there” I responded, “can’t wait” said the sweet voice on the other end.
I was already wearing a red shirt to work that day, it was like she read my mind. So I took the rest of the day off from work to go and meet this new development in my life.
I had a great time with this girl, she was beautiful, she thought exactly like me, she likes the same things as me and for a while I thought some sacred force conspired behind my back so that I could meet her that day. It was just perfect.
I returned from the date a happy man. I couldn't believe my luck, it was like all my wishes were starting to come true. But like the old saying goes “be careful what you wish for”, my story was only getting started. The sight I saw when I reached home was straight from a thriller movie. My house was completely tossed, furniture knocked down, as if somebody was searching for something, The Phone? The money?  I had many unanswered puzzles prancing around on my mind, but one question dominated my thoughts

What have I gotten myself into?? ? ............

Private Number Calling - Part 1

Hey all,

For those of you who read my last post today, you would remember reading about my short film story "private number calling". If u wanted to read it , its gonna follow in three days part by part, so follow up tomorrow for the next part of the story. So here goes.

Private Number Calling...”
I woke up halfheartedly at 820 am after hitting the snooze button on my alarm clock a few times that morning delaying my day by 5 minutes each time. At last it’s my roommate’s loud music that did the trick. I woke up, brushed my teeth and took bath with the same bored expression on my face, hating my life for being so predictable. Little did I know that in 24 hours my world will turn upside down?
Started on my routine day to day life with breakfast, some prayers, ironing my clothes and then getting dressed and off to the office on my bike. But today the journey was different. About half way to the office, I heard a phone ringtone from the front pouch of my Honda bike where I keep my bike registration papers. It was not my phone’s ringtone, hell  it was not even my phone. I was curious who would've stashed their phone in my bike and who is the person calling now. So I picked up hesitantly after a couple of rings and the person on the other end of the line spoke in a harsh voice

He said “I have done exactly like you planned, I have stolen the money. Your half share for the plan is kept in a plastic bag near the mile marker 35 on the highway to the city as we agreed, don’t bring attention to yourself and don’t get me in trouble. Goodbye”.

Still a bit puzzled about the whole change of events, I set off to the said mile marker where to my surprise I found the bag with lot of money in it. I felt like finally luck has favored my life this once . I hastily took the package inside the plastic bag and hid it under my shirt.

“What do I do with this money and what if somebody finds out that I have it? “ These questions scared me a little. So I had to do something quick so I went to my bank and deposited the money in my account to take the heat off my hands.

Have I had the luckiest day of my life or was it all going to turn my world upside down………….

Nice Personality Disorder - NPD

Hey all,

I just came across this strange phenomenon of the human psychology called ''nice personality disorder or NPD'' (Totally made up by me). Its basically when you are too nice to people that they tend to take advantage. I  first realised this when a relative of mine was in a bit of rough patch financially and wanted some money as loan. He came to my father and asked if he could help. My father owed some money to this guy so he thought he will repay the debt and loan him the extra money. Now this guy he promised he will repay within 4 days. And after four days i realised it was a big mistake. Then started a series of excuses and lies that lasted for more than 7 months. Sometimes he would say he is waiting for clearance of a cheque. Sometimes he says hes waiting for one of his business clients for payment and never would any of his excuses pan out. So after seven months of agitated waiting around, my dad confronted this guy and his brother at their home hoping to get an answer once and for all.

But the story was just getting started, this guy's brother told he will take personal liability for this debt and will repay it in two halves. The first after three months and the other half a month after. My dad and I thought since he gives this guarantee lets wait a bit more. This guy's brother works in UAE so we figured he would have no trouble getting this money.  But No. When the time came for repayment, he asked for three more months extra time. Now those three months have also passed. And it has been over 17 months. So i decide i have had enough of this mess. I went to confront him.

While i was on my way to this guy's house,  i had the most violent thoughts i have ever had in my life like 'putting him through the walls','smashing his skull in with pipe wrench' kind of thoughts. I reached to his house and rang the door bell, cracking my knuckles getting ready to get violent if i had to. But his daughter opened the door. He came after his daughter called out for him. When i was talking to him, i knew everything he was telling were more lies and excuses but i couldnt get the heart to hurt him . Imagine how you want to punch somebody's face in and at the same time wondering how much he will go through if i hurt him physically, his family they would not be the same after that incident they just witnessed. So i just nodded and walked out feeling like a pushover for being taken for granted by a guy who lies through his teeth

Thats when i realised that i suffer from NPD. And people its a disease . Do you know of a cure?

The Butterfly Effect

Hey all,

People, im gonna let you in on a little lesson i learned from life. Its about a theory known as the 'butterfly effect' i don't know if you were aware of it.it is based on the idea that a butterfly although a tiny part of our world, each tiny flap of its wings might create tiny changes in the atmosphere that may even sometimes alter the path of a tornado or delay a storm in another location. this theory states that a tiny factor may sometimes create changes of big proportions.the same way, what you think might be a little thing you do, might actually seem really big for some people.

Well listen to this story for a change, one day while i was walking down the street, i walked past a rather old lady. On any other day i wouldn't have noticed her. Her suffering, her weakness, her pain, her tortured soul. But this time i felt different. I didn't just walk past her without noticing. I thought i am in no hurry to do anything important, my day was pretty empty anyway. so i took some time off which i was probably gonna waste away anyway, and i thought just for that small portion of time, "what if she was my own grandmother. of course we do anything if she is actually part of our family so why not help somebody who isn't ? "

I went to her to ask her how she has been and whether i can do anything for her. i thought i would, just for once try to know another person on a human level. Apparently her husband lies paralyzed on bed, her cruel son had been beating her up when nobody sees, and she lives in complete misery. I was shocked to hear the sadness she has been through , but i couldn't do anything about it. it's none of my business. i wouldn't want to get in the middle of some family issue. so i looked at her and told her sincerely that everything will be fine even though i had no idea how. she asked me if i could buy her a few medicines, i helped out. but just when i was about to return home, she called out my name and put her hand on my head and gave me a blessing " you will be happy in your life ahead" and she had the most honest smile anyone i have ever seen. so i walk back home thinking if i could take 15 minutes off my day and help her out, i make her world a happier place. so imagine the kind of good we can do, if we all do the same. the world itself, would be a happy place. and isn't that a beautiful picture. Just a little food for thought people.
